RSPB Coombes Valley, near Leek, is inviting children to turn detective by going on a clue finding adventure and discovering more about the wildlife that resides in the woodland.

Budding detectives and their families can take a stroll amongst the trees and learn more about the weird and wonderful places the secretive animals have chosen to make their home. Collect all the letters that the animals are hiding in order to spell out a mystery creature then claim a prize.

Rebecca Blackman, spokesperson for RSPB Coombes Valley, says: “What better way to spend half term than turning detective and exploring the woodland creatures at Coombes? Take a walk along the wildlife detective trail then return to the visitor centre to warm up by our new wood burner.”

Following the clues will take families around the Play Trail, giving children the chance to build a den, bake a mud pie or discover the hidden fairy village along the way.

To take part in the self-guided Wildlife Detective Trail, call into the visitor centre anytime from 10am – 4pm from Saturday 13 February until Sunday 21 February. There is a cost of £4 per child with 20% discount for RSPB members.
